Allergen Information
At Tūn, beer is more than just a drink, it’s about bringing people together.
We brew with purpose, crafting beers that are inclusive, accessible and rooted in values of connection and care. That’s why all our beers are vegan and gluten-free.
Gluten Free
When it comes to gluten-free beer, we use Brewers Clarity as our enzyme during fermentation. This naturally breaks down gluten, and every batch we produce is sent to a laboratory for testing. Our beers consistently measure at less than 10 ppm of gluten, well below the 20 ppm threshold, making them safe for coeliacs.
Vegan
All of our beers are 100% vegan. Instead of relying on traditional methods that use animal products like isinglass, gelatin and lactose, we choose plant based alternatives. By using options such as vegan finings, we achieve the same clarity and quality without compromise.
Allergen FAQ’s
Which of your beers are Gluten Free?
All of them!
Does this apply to both can and draft?
Yes, whether you’re sipping from the tap or cracking a can, it’s gluten free.
Why do your ingredients list barley, wheat and oats if the beers are gluten free?
We’re required by law to list them as allergens, even though the gluten has been removed during the brewing process.
Are your beers safe for coeliacs?
Yes. Our beers consistently test at less than 10ppm gluten, well under the UK threshold of 20ppm to be classed as gluten-free. Everyone’s sensitivity is a little different though. If you’ve been told to avoid barley, wheat or oats entirely, it’s best to stick with your healthcare professionals advice.
I bought a can from you and it isn't marked with the gluten free symbol, is it really gluten free?
We aren't able to include the gluten-free logo on the cans for our first batches of any beer, since we get the test results back after the cans have been packaged. Since it is not guaranteed that any beer we make will be gluten-free, we do not include the logo for this reason, as otherwise we would have to relabel the whole batch if the results were positive for gluten. Once we've made the beer and know the recipe is indeed gluten-free, we can include the gluten-free symbol on the can for the second batch onward. On request, we can share the gluten-free certificates for peace of mind.
Does making your beer gluten-free and vegan change the taste?
Not one bit. You’ll still get the full craft experience, all the hops, malt character and freshness you’d expect, just brewed with a little more care.
Why do other breweries still use animal products?
Some stick with traditional methods, others see it as a way to cut the costs. For us, it's about doing things differently, making beer that’s inclusive, top quality and brewed for the whole community to enjoy.
